Beta Readers

Welcome! So you're a writer who's unsure of your fic? Need someone to give the go ahead for posting? You've come to the right place! Here you will find an assortment of ready and able beta readers who have offered their time to read your story and proofread. And everybody needs a beta! (I run my stuff by my brother and friends) Continuity Questions? Grammar or Spelling got you in a rut? Writer's block? This is the place to find your savior... hopefully ;)

If you're interested in becoming a beta or would like a correction to your listing, contact me with your name, email address, and a small profile of areas of interest and/or expertise. Medical experts wanted too. :)

There are currently 27 betas listed

Alexandria: I am good at proofreading stories plus I have an advanced medical knowlege (I'm a student) and lots of medical/emergency books, so we can look it up. I'll proofread anything ER, no crossovers please, except really, really, really graphic NC-17s, like so graphic it's porn, but generally anything goes!

Beth: I'm really into fan fiction now, and have written some of my own. I'm partial to Carter fan fics but will read about anyone. I won't read Carbys, Weaver/Lopez, NC-17s, or Crossovers. I have always been pretty good at English and will catch most mistakes. If you send it to me on the weekend, you'll get a response faster. Just so you know, after I read your fan fic i will e-mail you, telling you what I think. I'm not going to say I hate it because of the people or subject of you fan fic, but I will be honest. Gentle but honest. Bring on the fan fics!

Charlotte: I have a nasty little habit of correcting grammar, and especially spelling, constantly. I have an obsession with anything that involved AL/JC although I'm open to reading anything. I live in Wales so I'm pretty good with any British slang words and the like, in case you decide to make Elizabeth a wild gal! I don't claim to be an expert (because I'm not) but if anyone just wants some ideas for the rest of their story or someone to whine at because it isn't working as well as they hoped, then I'm here!

Erica: I love all ER fanfics. although I prefer Mark/Elizabeth fics. I will read anything (NC-17,slash....whatever) except Mark/Susan stories. Im good at spotting grammar errors and telling when something is out of character.

Jen: I write fanfic and beta a few different fandoms. I'll read anything that I get, with the exception of all out Carby romance (I don't mind Carby angst) but my favourites are Romano stories, especially Cordano! I'm a stickler for grammar/spelling and keeping things in cannon, unless otherwise stated. I don't care about NC-17 or slash.

Juliet: I'm an excellent speller and pretty good at grammar and I think I can pick up continuity errors. I don't care what the story; I have no preferences, I read everything! :)

Kara: I'm an english major who is good with spelling and grammar. I love ER, and would be happy to read any stories. Except slash and NC-17 stuff. I love all the characters, but especially Susan, and any Carter/Abby stories.

Kirsten: I'm an English student with one parent in the dentistry field and the other in the medical field. I'm very interested in medicine, and have thus read every medical book in my house. I'm a spelling/grammar/punctuation nazi as well, so no problem there. I'll read anything of any rating or genre (including slash and NC-17), although I'm not Kerry Weaver's biggest fan.

Kitchen_Sink5: I have seen almost every ER episode and can answer basically any question you have on characters or past events. I'm willing to fact check within your story to make sure that it is accurate. I'm currently pre-med, so I can answer many medical questions and can suggest correct dialogue for characters when it comes to traumas and diseases. I'm also a hound for correct grammar and spelling. I'll read just about anything.

KK: I am very good in English and always have been. I can spot spelling and grammar errors very easily. I will read any length, genre, or pairing. I'm not picky.

Kristen: I am picky but tactful, and I’m compulsive about spelling and grammar. All ratings and genres are fine, but I’d prefer not to read Carby fics.

Lauren: I adore reading things, and I pick out spelling and grammar mistakes really easily. I'll happily read any stories except slash or NC-17 because I'm too young for those but everything else is great. I love Luby, Carby and Lusan stories the best, but I will read others. Im gettin A* in my english at school, so i have a brain in here somewhere.

Lena: I'm good w/ grammer and the like and I know a lot about the show [What I don't know, I'd be happy to look up]. I have a lot of basic medical knowledge, and I'm familar w/ a lot of procedures. I'll read just about anything - no slash - and I'm more critical of Carbys than other fics, but in general, anything goes.

Lilliana: I was an editor-in-chief of my school newspaper last year, and I won an award in my language/literature class for my knowledge in spelling and/or grammar. I am also a year and a half ahead with my English classes currently. I am a fanfic author myself and I have some good, original ideas. I really like to read JC/AL fics, but I will read anything.

Lind: I'm an English student so I'm really good at spotting spelling and grammar errors. I live in England so I'm good with English locations/slang and I speak French, if that's useful to anyone. No slash or Doug/Carol fics please - those stories aren't my preference so I wouldn't edit them well - but I'm fine with all other characters.

Lindsay: I love reading ER fanfiction and am willing to read anything (including slash). I am English and am studying dentistry so know quite a lot of the medical terms though I don't claim to be an expert.

Lisa: My friends and family all refer to me as a "grammar-nazi." Which means, when I read your story I'll definitley be reminiscent of your high school English teacher and catch nasty errors. I'm also familiar with all the ER characters; I'll be sure to keep your writing in character. My credentials include being editor on the newspaper at my high school. I don't particularly enjoy crossovers, but I'll read anything!

*littleone*: I'm an excellent speller and English is my favorite subject, so I'm really good at grammar, too. Mostly any type of Fanfiction is fine (I prefer MG/EC), except NO Abby/Carter. I hope I can help!

Maddie: I'll read anything, but I especially like Doug/Carol and Abby/Carter fanfic. I make everyone around me crazy when I correct their grammar or spelling, which I take as a complement! I'm really good when it comes to editing, and can follow long storylines, as long as they're not more than 10 or so parts long.

Michelle: I'm pretty good at spotting grammar and spelling mistakes, plus I'll probably be really good with any continuity problems (I'm not obsessed...honest). I don't mind any type of fic, although I prefer them if they are either Carter/Abby, or Carter/Lucy.

Olivia: I'm pretty good with the English language, I catch errors rather well, especially if I'm not the one to make them. I have a good grasp on the medical basics that are likely to crop up in fan fiction, and am quite willing to find out anything more advanced that you might need (I've got a medical library and a registered nurse at my disposal, along with many textbooks, so if you need it, I will find it). I also know the basics of the legal system, so if you're going to get into that, I can help. I know the specifics of the ER cannon, so I can correct things with that. I will read most crossovers and any pairing or rating.

Pattie: I'm obsessed with grammar, punctuation and spelling. I've aced every English, composition, and literacy class I've ever taken, including the college classes I finished 2 years ago, 17 years after high school. I'm particularly interested in long-running fics, but will proof any length. My favorite couple is Carter/Abby, and I'd like to see Luka/Susan.

Rachel: I'm a medical professional to so that if anyone needed help with terminology, drugs or drug dosages, or medical ailments and treatments I would be willing to lend my knowledge to anyone who could use it.

Sarina: I love to read ER fanfics and i am great at giving advice for people who need help in their writing. Hope i can be of some help! Thanks...Oh and by the way, Elizabeth and Mark fanfics are really the only ones i am interested in.

Stephanie: I accept any category of fic, except slash. I'll read most anything but would prefer Carter/Abby or Jing-Mei/Dave. And I'd really like anything Benton. The only thing I really don't want to accept are Luka/Abby or Carter/Susan. I'm good at spotting spelling and grammar errors.

triggersaurus: I'll beta mostly Doug/Carol stuff, but any fics that are leaning towards the thriller/crime genre with any characters involved. I'm not too hot on the romance ones. Spelling etc, well everyone beta's for that so I suppose I should say I do too (!) but mostly I look at characterisation and originality.

VjeraNadaLjubav: I am a "killer speller", and pretty good with punctuation and grammar most of the time. I prefer fics that have Luka in them in some way, and am willing to beta read almost anything else except Carby fics. I also know some Croatian, so I can help in case one needs Luka to say something mysterious... *S*
