RATING: I'm awful at rating stories. PG-13-ish I guess.
SPOILERS: When I wrote the first story about Sam and Luka (How I Feel) they weren't together. Now they are. I can't win!!! Honestly, I am not sure if there are spoilers.
ARCHIVE: You know my rule, yes, but ask first!!!
AUTHOR'S NOTES: I have recieved positive feedback on How I Feel, so I decided to finally get started on the follow-up that I have promised. Also, song used in this piece is "With You"-Jessica Simpson.
SUMMARY: Follow-up story to How I Feel. This story is about Luka, Sam, love, and many other surprises that you will find out soon enough!
I can wear my hair down
I can say anything
I know you'll catch me right before I hit the ground
With nothing but a t-shirt on
I never felt so beautiful
Baby as I do now
Now that I'm with you
Luka woke up and smelled something cooking downstairs. He pulled on his bathrobe and went downstairs to see Sam standing over the stove making breakfast. He snuck up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Morning," he whispered in her ear.
"Hey," she replied kissing him on his stubbly cheek. She turned off the burner and abandoned the stove so she could spend a few minutes wrapped in Luka's strong embrace. He smelled positively wonderful, and she felt even better wrapped up in his arms. His body was so warm and perfect. He loved her so much and she loved him so much that she just wanted to cry whenever he held her. She wasn't upset, it's just that she felt so much emotion when he held her. She felt that all was right with the world, and that nothing could ever go wrong, as long as he was holding her. He made her feel so beautiful, even though she was only in her pajamas and her hair looked awful and she had morning breath. As long as she was in Luka's embrace, she was the most beautiful, most lucky woman on the planet.
Luka knew how Sam felt about him, and he felt the exact same way. He had never loved another woman this intensely. And however much he hated to admit it, he loved Sam even more than Danjiela, the mother of his children. He had loved Danjiela with what he thought was all his heart, but then he fell in love with Sam and he soon realized what it meant to love someone with all his heart. Sam was the woman he was destined to be with for the rest of his life. They had proved that to each other last night. It was the first time they had had sex, but they didn't want it to be the last.
"I love you," he murmured into her ear. "I love you with every ounce of everything I am and I swear to God that I always will."
"I love you so much," she murmured back. They kissed gently but so full of passion and Sam felt tears come to her eyes. She didn't try and stop them and just let them fall.
Luka knew why Sam was crying so he didn't try to stop her tears. Instead he continued to kiss her and hold her close to him. He knew she was overwhelmed with amazing emotion and Luka was so happy that someone loved him more truly and more deeply than any person ever had.
"Well, well, Luka. You certainly seem happy this morning.
Luka jumped from the shock and saw Susan standing behind him in the lounge, a slight smile on her face.
"If only you knew," he said to her.
"Okay, who were you doing?" Susan asked.
"Not one for subtlety, are you Susan? Sam, if you must know. I'm in love with her, actually."
"Wow, you're in love??? How can you be so sure? How do you know it's not infatuation?"
"Trust me Susan, I know. When I am with Sam I feel as if all is right with the world. Nothing can ever go wrong when I am with her and when she is with me."
"Sounds pretty intense," Susan said, sounding slightly amazed. "Well, I have to get back to work. See you."
Susan was right. It was intense. The love he felt for Sam was beyond anything in the world. He sighed and poured himself another cup of coffee. He was already missing Sam.
After Luka had gone to work, Sam had showered, gotten dressed, shipped Alex off to school and did some shopping, all the while tinking about Luka. She had never loved someone as intensely as she loved Luka, and she was becoming very confused about her feelings.
As she flopped down on the couch after an exhausting morning, she pulled a pillow close to her chest and turned on the TV, hoping to get at least a couple of hours of relaxation before Alex came home from school. She turned on the preview channel and stood up and went to the kitchen. She grabbed a soda out of the refrigerator and sat down on the couch sipping it while trying to find something besides cartoons on TV. She finally decided on Passions, and sat there for an hour watching the meaningless lives of fictional people get into stupid predicaments of love, hate, jealousy, among other things. However, she wasn't thinking about Passions. She was thinking about Luka. His strong, muscular arms. His perfect hair, with the few stray strands falling so beautifully onto his forehead. His deep brown eyes, his sexy accent. Everytime he spoke, or everytime she thought about him, she felt all warm and wanted to hug herself. She knew that she was in love with Luka, she was just worried what she would say to him. She was still wondering how she ever fell in love with him in the first place.
Luka was sitting in the lounge on his break, thinking about Sam. She was amazingly pretty, and she had an amazing attitude as well. He wanted to jump into bed and have sex with her everytime he laid eyes on her. She was so delicate and beautiful, it was hard to believe that she was actually real.
All of a sudden, as if on cue, Carter came rushing into the lounge,
"Hey Luka," he said as he poured himself a cup of coffee.
"Hey Carter," Luka replied.
"So, Susan told me about you and Sam," Carter said, with somewhat of a smirk on his face. "You're a lucky guy, Luka. You're always snatching the hot ones right out from under the other guys noses. We all hate you for it, by the way."
"Thanks, I guess," Luka said, somewhat sheepishly. "I think I'm actually in love with Sam, like for real this time. Not just a spur of the moment thing. It's not anything like I've felt for Carol or Abby. It's so much different this time. I just hope we end up staying together forever."
Meanwhile, Sam was only two floors away.
"Okay, Sam. This should help ease your pain a little bit."
"Thanks, Dr. Morgan. I really appreciate you doing this for me."
"No problem," he replied. "Does anyone know about you yet?"
"No. I'm going to tell Luka eventually, but I don't know how to say it. It's going to be hard just to come out and say that I'm sick. I don't know how he's going to take it. He's definitely in love with me, but I just don't want him to lose me like he lost Danjiela. That would be extremely awful, and I don't want to see him upset about this."
"Well, Sam, we'll see how this treatment works and then we might have to try something else. Your progression of the disease seems highly unusual, so we will just keep trying treatments until we find one that works for you."
"Alright," she said.
"Just let this IV run in, then I'll give you your prescription and you'll be on your way."
"Thanks again, Dr. Morgan. I just never expected to be hit with cancer," Sam said.
